Lubricants > Services on large gear drives 2 > Services on large gear drives 3
Our experienced service engineers assist with the commissioning and running-in of plants and carry out regular inspections throughout their entire lifetime.
Our core competencies include the inspection, maintenance, and repair of large open gears, particularly in the cement industry.
The lubricating system is inspected to ensure, for example, that lubricant lines are secure and free from bends, and that barrel fittings are correctly installed to prevent overheating. Klüber experts also assess the cleanliness of lubricant containers and the surrounding area, highlighting any potential risk of contamination.
Regular measurements are performed using calibrated electronic tools, providing values with precision down to the decimal point.
Concrete foundations should be checked for cracks, as these indicate that the foundations are subjected to extraordinary loads. Any changes or damage to the foundations may affect the pinion bearings and, consequently, the entire drive unit.
The analysis evaluates how the gear performs under the conditions of the pinion drive, taking into account its geometry.
Tooth flank damage is often caused by:
Insufficient hardness
Incorrect lubricant selection
Contamination of the lubricant
Incorrect lubricant flow or application
The mechanical treatment of tooth flanks includes the following steps:
Measurement and profile generation of tooth flanks
Milling off progressive pitting
Grinding off burs and chamfering edges
Smoothing tooth flanks by grinding
Documenting work steps with photos and text
Optionally taking silicone impressions of selected tooth flanks for the customer
Preparing running-in lubrication
Mechanical Treatment and Lubrication
The mechanical treatment of these drives is based on material removal. Deviations in tooth shape, material distortions, loose particles, plastic deformation, as well as cold and hot welding folds are first repaired by rough grinding and then by fine grinding to restore the original tooth profile.
